The Hoover Dam

The Hoover Dam’s immense size makes it difficult to photograph. Nevertheless, when staring at such an amazing sight it’s hard to do anything other than take a picture.

I’ve been sitting on these photos for 7 years, so you’ll notice in the photo below that the Mike O’Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge is still in the early stages of construction.

If you ever travel to Las Vegas, a side-trip to the Hoover Dam is an absolute must. It is impressive not only for its size and beauty, but also for the fact that it was completed in 1936.

  1. I mean no disrespect toward Patt Tillman or Mike O’Callaghan, but you just can’t name a bridge after two people. Are people supposed to say the O’Callaghan-Tillman bridge? Hyphenated names are unwieldy, I’m sure you’ll agree.

    • A hyphenated bridge name is better than in sports where now they have one name for the stadium and a separate name for the field. For example, “Mall of America Field at the H.H.H. Metrodome”
